Bednard Earns North Division Star of the Week Award

Nov 23, 2014

The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that goaltender Ryan Bednard has been named the Easton Hockey North Division Star of the Week for the week ending November 23, 2014. The Bowling Green commit helped the Tomahawks earn three of four points against Soo last weekend.

Bednard stopped 37 of 39 shots in Saturday night’s 3-2 win, before stopping 35 of 36 shots in Sunday’s 2-1 overtime loss.

“Ryan was solid in a time when I don’t think our team was playing its best. He was the main reason we came away with three of four points on the road against a very good Soo team. He is playing very well right now and gives us a chance to win in every game,” said Johnstown head coach Mike Letizia.

Bednard has appeared in 14 games this season, going 7-6-1 with a 2.93 goals against average and 368 saves. He recorded his first career NAHL shutout, stopping 27 shots in a 4-0 win against Michigan on Oct. 10.

Joe Drabin also earned an honorable mention for the second consecutive week. Drabin scored two goals on Saturday night, including the game-winner with 40 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Tomahawks return home to take on Janesville Nov. 28 and 29. Friday’s game features special Black Friday deals and lucky fan giveaways, while the first 1,000 fans on Saturday night will take home a Tomahawks camo hat. Face-off for both games is set for 7 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.johnstowntomahawks.com or call 814-536-4625.
