Bednard, Quagliata named to All-Rookie Teams

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Two members of the Johnstown Tomahawks were named to the North American Hockey League (NAHL) All-Rookie Teams for the 2014-15 season.  Goaltender Ryan Bednard was named to the ALL-NAHL Rookie 2nd Team, and defenseman Steve Quagliata was named to the North Division All-Rookie Team.

 

The teams, announced Wednesday afternoon, were voted upon and selected by the league’s head coaches. The teams were open to NAHL players that had not played in any junior league prior to the 2014-15 season, or entered the season having played less than 10 NAHL hockey regular season games.
 

Bednard led the Tomahawks with 37 appearances this season, posting a 16-16-5 record with a 2.66 goals against average before missing the final six games of the season with illness.  His .913 save percentage ranked tied for 10th in the league.

 

Bednard, who committed to Bowling Green State University in September, has three years of junior eligibility remaining.  He is ranked 22nd among North American goaltenders eligible for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.  His season highlights also included an invitation to the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects game, in which he earned the win for his team.

 

Quagliata finished the year with 3 goals and 20 assists in 48 games, ranking ninth on the team in scoring and second among Tomahawks defenseman.  Quagliata has two years of junior eligibility remaining.

 

The remainder of the NAHL 2014-15 season awards, including the All-NAHL Divisional Teams and Awards, the All-NAHL Teams, Most Valuable Player, Forward of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Vaughn Goaltender of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, General Manager of the Year and Organization of the Year, along with the Academic Achievement Award and Community Service Award, will be all be announced at a date in the near future.
