Bednard’s Overtime Goal Gives Tomahawks a 4-3 Win

            Shane Bednard scored two goals, including a breakaway goal in overtime , as the Tomahawks defeated the Port Huron Fighting Falcons 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Bednard also scored the tying goal in the third period and added an  assist on Omar Mullan’s goal in the second period.

            The Tomahawks dominated in shots, outshooting the Fighting Falcons 45-18.

            The Fighting Falcons got on the board first, as Zach Badalamenti scored at 9:54 of the first period. They made it 2-0 on a Logan Lambdin power-play goal just 14 seconds into the first period.

            Mullan got the Tomahawks on the board at 5:56 of the second period, before Brandon Reinholz scored on a wristshot from above the left face-off circle at 10:43.

            Port Huron regained the lead on Noah Batis’ goal at 12:04 of the third period, before Bednard tied the game once again at 6:14 of the third period.

            Bednard sent everyone home happy, scoring his breakaway goal 1:06 into the overtime period. The win is the Tomahawks first in overtime, as their previous two overtime wins came in the shootout.

            Jake Moore, who was starting his first game for the Tomahawks, stopped 15 of 18 shots in the win. Max Milosek took the loss stopping 41 of 45 shots.

            Both teams had a power-play goal in the game, as Johnstown went 1-for-4 and Port Huron went 1-for-5.

            The Tomahawks welcome the Springfield Jr. Blues to the War Memorial next Friday & Saturday, Nov. 8 & 9. The 7:30 p.m. game on the Friday night features Faith & Family night, while the 7 p.m. game on Saturday night features Military Appreciation Night.
