Bruce Earns Third Bauer East Division Star of the Week Honor

Feb 28, 2017

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks and the North American Hockey League announced today that forward Nick Bruce was named the Bauer East Division Star of the Week for the week ending February 26, 2017.

Bruce earned two points (two goals) and a shootout goal during a weekend sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights Feb. 24-25 at the War Memorial.

The Fall River, N.S. native tallied two goals in comeback 4-3 win over the Knights in front of a sellout crowd on Friday, Feb. 24.

He rounded out an impressive weekend with a shootout goal in a 3-2 Tomahawks victory on Saturday, Feb. 25.

“Nick continues to be a guy that seemingly leads the way for our club every weekend,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “With a shorthanded lineup he stepped up his game and played inspired hockey. Contributing two goals in our come-from-behind win on Friday and then a big shootout goal in Saturday’s win was a catalyst for our success. I am extremely excited to see how he performs this week at Top Prospects and I am hopeful that he will get the recognition I feel he deserves as a quality NCAA Division I prospect.”

The Tomahawks return to regular season play on Friday, March 3 against the Aston Rebels at the IceWorks Skating Complex. Johnstown comes back to the War Memorial St. Patrick’s Day Weekend (March 17-18) against Aston. The team will wear specialty Irish jerseys presented by the Holiday Inn.
