Dalton Hunter Earns Star of the Week Nod

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks announced today, that for the second consecutive week, forward Dalton Hunter was named the East Division Star of the Week for the week ending Sept. 25, 2016.

Hunter earned six points (three goals, three assists) during the North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minn. The event took place from Sept. 21-24.

The Tomahawks captured a 3-1-0 record at the event to move their overall record to 5-1-0.

The Greensburg, Pa., native scored two goals and notched an assist in a 6-3 comeback victory over the Springfield Jr. Blues on Sept. 2. Hunter earned an assist in a 3-0 win over the Minnesota Wilderness and an assist in a 3-2 loss to the Austin Bruins.

He rounded out his impressive week with a game-winning goal against the Shreveport Mudbugs. Johnstown won the game 2-1.

“Dalton’s start to our season has been fantastic,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “He followed up a strong opening weekend with an even better showing at the Showcase. “He’s played big minutes for us and chipped in timely points to help our club have a pretty good week in Blaine. I am proud of the way he has pushed himself to take the next step in his play.”

The Tomahawks are back on the road on Friday, Sept. 30 for a meeting with the defending Robertson Cup champions, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Faceoff is set for 11:30 p.m. (EST) from the Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks, Alaska.
