First Tomahawks Try-Out Camp of the Summer is Underway Near Pittsburgh

May 30, 2015

Warrendale, Pa. — Approximately 120 Tomahawks hopefuls are on hand at the Bladrerunners Icce Complex in Warrendale, Pa., this weekend for the first Johnstown Tomahawks try-out camp of the off-season.

Participating players include a mix of returning veterans, tendered players and free-agents hoping to impress enough to earn an invitation to the Tomahawks’ main camp in Johnstown in mid-July.

The camp began Friday afternoon and will conclude Sunday, as coach Mike Letizia evaluates the players’ performance in a series of scrimmages and on-ice workouts throughout the weekend.

For the returning veterans taking part in the camp — including Joe Drabin, Nick DeSimone, Joe Delandro, Dalton Hunter, Jake Houston and Luke Lynch – the camp is a chance to show Letizia how their game has progressed since the Tomahawks season concluded two months ago.

"I hope to come back to Johnstown and play for the Tomahawks because they have a great coach and great ownership, plus I had a great billet family,” said Lynch.

Stay posted to JohnstownTomahawks.com throughout the week for updates on some of the returning players, tenders and Johnstown-area free agents trying out for the team.

The Tomahawks’ try-out camps will continue over the next two weekends, with additional sessions scheduled for near Chicago and Detroit.  The NAHL draft is also set for June 9.

Season ticket packages for the 2015-16 Johnstown Tomahawks season are now available, starting at less than $99 per ticket for 14-game plans.  Call 814-536-4625 for more information or to sign up for your season ticket account.
