From the Intern’s Desk: Thank You

It’s that time; with the season concluding this past weekend, my time as a Tomahawks intern has come to an end.
I would say it’s pretty bittersweet; I can’t wait to graduate from Cal U and take the next step in my career, but I have really enjoyed my time here in Johnstown.
There are plenty of people I want to thank, so I’ll start off with the most important one: Mr. Gosnell.
If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here right now. He was the one who gave me the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in hockey and I could never thank him enough for doing so. I’ve enjoyed learning from him and helping him with all things Communications for the Tomahawks.
Next, I’d like to thank the rest of the front office: Jean, Derek, Autumn, and Sherry. You guys made me feel right at home when I got here and I’ve loved getting to know all of you. From hanging out in the office to setting up before games, it’s always been a blast being around everyone.
To the other interns, Nicco, Ashley, Seth, Charles, and the rest, it’s been great getting to work with you guys. I’d say we make a pretty good team, whether it was working in the office or getting ready for games. I hope you all succeed in wherever your careers take you!
To Coach Letizia, Dunk, and all the players, thank you for being so welcoming. It was nice getting to interview some of the guys and watch the team grow as the season went on. I’ll definitely be back next year to watch some games!
Finally, I would like to thank all the fans. I never really understood how passionate Johnstown was about the team until I got here. They always stick by the guys through the good times and the bad. After running the team’s social media and working the home games, I now know that this town really loves their Tomahawks.
It’s been a pleasure getting to work for the team, and I will never forget my time here. I have learned so much and have gained valuable experience that I will always use throughout my career.
Goodbye for now, and let’s go Hawks! – Shalene Hixon
