Game Preview: Johnstown @ New Jersey

                After last night’s 5-2 victory over the Aston Rebels, the Tomahawks close out their weekend road trip tonight against the New Jersey Titans. The Tomahawks sit just four points behind New Jersey for first place and two points behind Aston for second place in the East Division.

                The Tomahawks defeated the Rebels, thanks to a four-goal second period. Johnstown received goals from Niko Coffman, Tommy Horn, Kelly O’Brien and Zak Galambos to take a 4-2 lead after two periods. Brendan Jaquay set the final score with 4:09 remaining in the third period.

                Andrew Lindgren earned his fifth Tomahawks victory, stopping 23 of 25 shots.

                New Jersey also enters Saturday’s game with a victory, after defeating Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4-1 last night. Keegan Miller had a goal and an assist, while Michael Gelatt and Bruno Birzitis each had two assists. Harrison Feeney earned the win with a 39 save performance.

                The Tomahawks and Titans have battled 11 times this season, with the Titans taking seven of those meetings. The Tomahawks took two of three from New Jersey in their most recent meetings at the War Memorial. The Tomahawks won the first game 1-0, thanks to a 20-save shutout by Ryan Glander. The Tomahawks made it two straight with a 3-2 shootout victory the following night. The Titans prevented the sweep with a 5-4 victory in the weekend finale.

                Andrew Romano, O’Brien and Alger each have seven points against New Jersey this season. Alger leads the team with seven assists against them, while Tommy Horn leads the way with four goals. Goaltender Ryan Glander is 2-2 with a 2.77 GAA against the Titans.

                Raymond Brice, Anthony Cusanelli and Birzitis lead New Jersey with nine points against Johnstown this season. Brice leads the team with seven goals, while Birzitis leads the way with seven assists.

                Following this weekend’s games, the Tomahawks and Titans meet four more times this season, with New Jersey serving as hosts for all of them.
