Game Preview: Johnstown @ Soo 10/31/2014

    The Tomahawks make their first trip to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. this season for a two-game series against the Soo Eagles. The Tomahawks and Eagles split their 12 meetings last season, with each team going 3-3 in the opposing team’s building. The Tomahawks are 9-10-1 all-time against the Eagles, and have won three of the last four meetings. The Tomahawks and Eagles next meeting will occur on Friday November 14 at the War Memorial.
The Tomahawks
    The Tomahawks return to the road after splitting a home-and-home series with Keystone last weekend. Johnstown fell 5-4 at the War Memorial on Saturday night, before earning their first win over the Ice Miners this season, 4-3 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon.
    Casey Linkenheld had two goals in the games against Keystone, while Andrew Romano had three points on the weekend. Tanner Barnes had the game-winning goal in the shootout on Sunday afternoon. Romano leads the team with 10 points (4G-6A), while Cam Bleck is the team leader with six goals.
    Following this weekend’s games, the Tomahawks return home to take on the Michigan Warriors November 7-9.
The Eagles
    Soo begins a five-game homestand, after sweeping a weekend series on the road against Michigan. The Eagles won 4-3 on Friday night, before completing the sweep with a 4-1 win on Saturday night. Soo has won four of its last six games, and is currently in second place in the North Division.
    Sandis Zolmanis leads the Eagles with 17 points (6G-11A), while Trevor Cope holds the team lead with 10 goals. Seven Eagles players have reached double digits in points this season. In net, the Eagles are led by Jack Barry, who is 5-2-0 with 214 saves this season. Sean Keating earned the Eagles wins last weekend against Michigan, stopping 45 of 46 shots during the two-game series.
    Following this weekend, the Eagles host Springfield for a three-game series next weekend.
North Division
    In the other North Division match-up this weekend, Michigan travels to Springfield for a two-game series starting tonight. Janesville makes the trip to Minnesota for a non-divisional series with the Minnesota Magicians. Keystone is the lone division team that is not in action this weekend.
