LeSage announces plans to play at St. Norbert

Johnstown, Pa. — Former Johnstown Tomahawks defenseman Nick LeSage has announced his continue his hockey career at St. Norbert College in de Pere, Wisc.

LeSage, played in 19 games for the Tomahawks last season since being traded to Johnstown from the Amarillo Bulls, scoring 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) with 26 penalty minutes.  He concluded his junior eligibility with 111 regular season NAHL games played, tallying a career total of 9 goals, 31 points and 128 penalty minutes.

“Nick was a fantastic addition to our blueline last year, and I’m so happy to see him have the opportunity to continue his hockey career so close to his hometown of Green Bay,” Tomahawks coach Mike Letizia said.  “He’s was everything we expected when we acquired him near the deadline last season. He is someone I wish we would have been able to have in our organization for his entire career because of his on-ice play and the person he is off the ice.”

LeSage joins fellow Tomahawks teammate Lane Valimont as part of the school’s recruiting class.

One of the most successful NCAA D-III programs in the country, the St. Norbert Green Knights compete in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.  The school won the D-III National Championship in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2014.  The Green Knights were also national runners-up in 2004, 2006 and 2010 and have won 14 of the last 19 NCHA regular season titles.  In that same span, St. Norbert also won 10 NCHA post-season tournaments.

LeSage is the eighth member of the Tomahawks’ 2014-15 graduating to play NCAA hockey next season.  The list also includes Alex Jaeckle (Canisius College), Trevor Recktenwald (Ferris State), Brady Bender (Endicott College), Josh Bowes (Endicott College), Collin Montgomery (Endicott College), Ian Spencer (Nichols College) and Lane Valimont (St. Norbert). Goaltender Ryan Bednard has also committed to Bowling Green State University but is not expected to play for the Falcons next season.
