New Jersey Skates to 6-1 Win

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The Johnstown Tomahawks dropped a road contest to the New Jersey Titans  by a score of 6-1 Saturday night at Middletown Ice World.

New Jersey would get on the scoreboard first when Kyle Perkowski rifled a puck past Tomahawks goaltender Vinnie Purpura on the power play at 5:56 of the first period. Gordie Helmuth and Greg Malafronte assisted on the goal.

Malafronte would add a power play goal of his own seven minutes later to make it 2-0 Titans. Helmuth and Jordan Kaplan picked the helpers on the goal.

In the second period, the Titans took control of the game with three consecutive goals.

Danny Eruizone fired a one-timer past the glove of Purpura to set the Titans lead at 3-0.

That goal was followed by a marker from Helmuth that was assisted by Tate MacDonald and Maxim Andreev. The score now read 4-0 in favor of the Titans.

The second period ended with a goal from defenseman Danny Weaver. Picking up the helpers on Weaver’s goal were Dylan Healey and Kaplan.

Johnstown would finally solve Titans goaltender Brandon Perrone when Donovan Ott fired a wrist shot from the low slot that beat Perrone glove side. Filips Bucnis registered his 15th assist of the season on the tally.

However, the Titans would set the final at 6-1 with a goal from Todd Goehring.

Purpura stopped 22 of 27 shots on goal in the loss, moving his overall record to 4-2-0. Perrone earned his first NAHL win and improved his mark to 1-0-0.

Both teams conclude the three-game series Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Middletown Ice World.
