Romano Named East Division Star of the Week

Jan 4, 2016

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that forward Andrew Romano has been named the East Division Star of the Week Award for the week ending January 3, 2016. Romano had two goals and an assist, helping the Tomahawks sweep the Kenai River Brown Bears last week.

On New Year’s Eve, Romano scored a first period goal to give the Tomahawks a 2-0 lead. After Kenai River took the lead in the third period, Romano provided an assist on Casey Linkenheld’s game-winning goal in a 6-3 victory.

Romano also played an important part in Saturday’s 3-1 victory, giving the Tomahawks their first lead of the game with a shorthanded goal 17:40 into the second period.

“Andrew had a great weekend for us coming out of our Christmas break. He had a ton of energy and was making plays all over the ice. He was right in the middle of our success and the timeliness of both game-winning goals from the two games. He is a kid that has been great for us all season long, and he is deserving of this recognition from this past weekend,” said Johnstown head coach Mike Letizia.

The Drexel Hill, Penn. native has appeared in 35 games this season, scoring nine goals and picking up 23 assists. Romano is tied with Luke Lynch for the team lead in points (32), with both players also ranking fifth in the league in that category.

Romano also leads the Tomahawks with 23 assists, 35 games played and five power-play goals this season.

Romano joins teammates Drew Doyon (week of 12/7/15), Lynch (week of 11/30/15), Adam Pilewicz (week of 10/12/15) and Anthony Parrucci (week of 9/21/15) as members of the Tomahawks who have been named the East Division Star of the Week this season.

Johnstown continues its four game homestand this weekend, hosting Fairbanks this Friday and Saturday at the Cambria County War Memorial. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.johnstowntomahawks.com or call 814-536-GOAL (4625).
