Jun 26, 2018

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced Tuesday that defenseman Toby Sengvongxay has committed to Division III Gustavus Adolphus College for the 2018-19 season.
Sengvongxay, of Luverne, Minn., was acquired in a mid-season trade with the Austin Bruins. The veteran blue liner scored two goals and chipped in 19 assists in 54 games played in 2017-18.
“Toby was just the player and person we were looking for when we acquired him in October,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “He was a veteran defenseman who played a significant role on our blue line and was a leader on and off the ice for our team. Toby’s effort and positive attitude was infectious and never wavered. He is an outstanding person and he should be a huge asset to the hockey program at Gustavus Adolphus. I wish him nothing but success and look forward to following his college career.”
Sengvongxay represented the East Division at the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, registering one assist in two games.
The Golden Gusties compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Gustavus Adolphus College is in St. Peter, Minn.
