Special Moment Highlights Tomahawks New Year's Eve Game

Dec 31, 2013

The sellout crowd at the Johnstown Tomahawks game on Dec. 31 saw an exciting game, with the Tomahawks coming out on top 4-1 over the Michigan Warriors. One Tomahawks fan received a surprise before the game, which made the last day of 2013 extra special.

As Tomahawks players and members of the American Eagle Ice Crew were lined up holding signs that spelled out “Happy New Year 2014”, Angel Leydig came out onto the ice thinking she had won a drawing to drop the ceremonial first puck. Public address announcer Al Steele then informed her that there was an additional surprise, prompting the players and Ice Crew to flip the signs over. The new message said “Will You Marry Me?” as her boyfriend Dustin Schropp came out onto the ice behind her, got down on one knee and popped the question. Angel immediately said yes, which was met with applause from the War Memorial Crowd.

The Tomahawks organization extends congratulations and best wishes to Dustin and Angel. Click here to see the video of the proposal from last night’s game.
