Team USA picks up 5-1 Win In Exhibition

PITTSBURGH – The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the United States National Development Program 5-1 in an exhibition game Saturday night at the RMU Island Sports Center.

Team USA got on the board first with a goal from Jonathan Gruden. The goal was assisted by Eric Middendorf.

In the second period, Team USA grabbed control of the game with a three-goal period.

Oliver Wahlstrom, who is committed to Harvard University, netted two consecutive goals and Jake Goldowski added another to increase the American lead to 4-0.

Johnstown cracked the zero on their side of the scoredboard in the third period with a goal from Dalton Hunter.

The goal was answered by Gruden minutes later to set the final at 5-1.

Keegan Karki picked up the win while Tomahawks goalie Vinnie Purpura suffered the loss.

Both teams are back on the ice for the final game in the series Sunday night at 7 p.m. Tickets to the event are free of charge.
