Three-Goal Third Period Lifts New Jersey Past Tomahawks

JOHNSTOWN – The New Jersey Titans used a three-goal third period to defeat the Johnstown Tomahawks 5-4 Sunday afternoon at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

The Titans gained the early advantage nine minutes into the first period when Darren Brady scored his fifth goal of the season.

Johnstown responded one minute later with a Brendan Jaquay goal. Ryan Burr and Andrew Romano provided the assists.

Jaquay scored again with 55 seconds left in the first period to give the Tomahawks a 2-1 lead . Logan Hudson and Tommy Horn picked up the assists on the goal.

New Jersey tied the game at 10:43 of the second period as Jesse Farabee scored a power-play goal from in front of the crease.

The Tomahawks regained the lead early in the third period with a Drew Doyon power-play goal. The Titans tied the game again at 4:30 when Andrew Durham scored a short-handed tally.

Raymond Brice gave New Jersey the 4-3 lead four minutes later. Keegan Miller and Bruno Birzitis assisted on the goal.

Titans forward Victor Ostling put New Jersey up 5-3 when he scored a power-play goal at 12:50.

With goaltender Ryan Glander pulled, the Tomahawks would score with 55 second left when defenseman Niko Coffman found the back of the net but that would the closest Johnstown would get as the Titans skated away with the 5-4 victory.

In the loss, Glander stopped 22 of 27 shots from the Titans. Spencer Wright saved 33 pucks while picking up the victory.
