Tomahawks Alumni Update: Postseason Edition

  • Bowling Green (Shane Bednard): The Falcons are tied for second place in WCHA with Michigan Tech. They close out the regular season this weekend, traveling to Alabama-Huntsville for a pair of games.

 

  • Minnesota State-Mankato (Casey Nelson): The Mavericks hold a two point advantage over Bowling Green and Michigan Tech in the WCHA standings. They host Bemidji State for two games this weekend.

 

  • Ferris State (Trevor Recktenwald): Ferris State currently sits in fifth place in the WCHA. They have clinched a playoff berth, and are three points ahead of Bemidji State. The Bulldogs host Lake Superior State this weekend.

 

  • Canisius College (Alex Jaeckle and Cody Boyd): The Griffins finished the regular season tied for sixth in the Atlantic Hockey standings. Canisius hosts Niagara this weekend in first round of the Atlantic Hockey postseason tournament.

 

  • Bentley University (Andrew McDonald): The Falcons finished eighth in the Atlantic Hockey standings. Bentley hosts Sacred Heart in the first round of the Atlantic Hockey postseason tournament.

 

  • Augsburg College (Brady Bender, Evan Hesse): Augsburg College advanced to the MIAC championship game with a 5-2 victory over Hamline last weekend. The top-seeded Auggies host St. Johns in the MIAC championship game this Saturday.

 

  • Hamline University (Cody Bentzel, Mitch Hall, Jaycob McCombs, Brandon Reinholz, Jesse Kessler): Hamline entered the postseason as the #5 seed in the MIAC tournament. The Piper upset #4 Concordia 3-0 last Thursday, before falling to Augsburg 5-2. Jesse Kessler and Brandon Reinholz  tallied assists in the loss.

 

  • Wisconsin-River Falls (Jeff Bergh, Mitch Kontny, Alex Okicki): The Falcons defeated Wisconsin-Stout in a semifinal series last weekend. They host Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the WIAC championship game this Saturday.

 

  • Endicott College (Josh Bowes, Collin Montgomery): The Gulls finished the season as the #1 seed in the ECAC Northeast region. Endicott advanced to the ECAC Northeast Tournament title game with a 4-0 win over Wentworth. Josh Bowes had an assist in the victory. The Gulls take on Salve Regina this Saturday at 3 p.m.

 

  • St. Norbert College (Nick LeSage): St Norbert College won its semifinal series against Marian University last weekend. They travel to Adrian College this Saturday for the NCHA Harris Cup championship game.
