Tomahawks Begin Homestand Against Soo

Oct 22, 2013

The Johnstown Tomahawks return home this weekend for a three-game series against the Soo Eagles. This weekend’s games are the first of eleven straight home games for the Tomahawks between October 24 and November 23.

On Thursday, the Tomahawks and Eagles meet at 7 p.m. Fans attending Thursday’s game will receive a Tomahawks cowbell. Both kids and adults are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to the game, and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Even Chopper will get into the Halloween spirit by wearing his costume.

The Tomahawks are partnering with Conemaugh Health System to present Face Off Against Cancer Weekend during Friday and Saturday’s games. Fans are encouraged to wear pink for Friday’s 7:30 p.m. game as part of “Pink at the Rink”. The first 500 fans will receive pink rally towels and the players will wear special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the Conemaugh Health Foundation Cancer Fund.

On Saturday, “Hope Support Cure” will be the theme for the 7 p.m. weekend finale. Ice scrapers will be given away to the first 700 fans, and ribbons will be available for fans to wear in support of the fight against cancer.

During both games, Conemaugh Health System will provide educational displays and prevention tips. They will also have a variety of Linked in Pink and Hope Support Cure merchandise for sale, along with a variety of raffles that fans can take part in. The proceeds from these items will benefit the Conemaugh Health Foundation Cancer Fund.

Fans are also invited to sign the “Fight Like a Tomahawk!” banner that will be taken and displayed at the Conemaugh Cancer Care Center to provide encouragement for patients and their families.

Tickets are available for all three games, and can be purchased at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, by visiting johnstowntomahawks.com, or by calling 814-536-4625.
