Tomahawks Continue Success At Showcase, Defeat Chill 3-2

BLAINE, Minn. – The Johnstown Tomahawks continued their success at the North American Hockey League Showcase Friday night, defeating the Coulee Region Chill 3-2. The Tomahawks have now won all three of their showcase games and four of their last five overall.

 

            Casey Linkenheld got the Tomahawks on the board first, scoring 13:30 into the first period. Andrew Romano and Alex Alger each added assists on the goal.

 

            With just over a minute remaining in the first period, Isaac Theisen got Coulee Region on the board with his first goal of the season.

 

            Kelly O’Brien regained the lead for Johnstown (4-1-0) with a power-play goal 5:29 into the second period.

 

            Luke Lynch extended the Tomahawks lead to 3-1, scoring his second goal in as many games at 8:58 of the second period. O’Brien and Tommy Horn each added assists on the goal.

 

            Coulee Region (1-2-0) pulled back within one, thanks to an Oleg Khalemin goal with 16 seconds remaining in the second period.

 

            Camden Burggrabe earned his first win of the season, stopping 24 of 26 shots. Matiss Kivlenieks suffered the loss, allowing three goals on 24 shots. The Tomahawks went 1-for-2 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

 

Johnstown closes out its showcase schedule Saturday afternoon against Lone Star. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. with live video available on www.fasthockey.com.

 

            Johnstown opens its 2015-16 home schedule Oct. 16 and 17 against New Jersey, with a special appearance by Hockey Hall of Famer and National Hockey League legend Bobby Hull scheduled for the Oct. 16 game.
