Tomahawks Fall to Eagles 4-3 in Regular Season Home Finale

In their regular season home finale, the Tomahawks fell to the Soo Eagles 4-3, with the game-winner scored by Bradley Mueller with 1:23 remaining in regulation. The Tomahawks go into the final week of the regular season with a three point lead over Springfield for the final playoff spot in the North division, and trail Janesville by one point.

After a scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the board early in the second period, as Denver Pierce scored at 2:24. Bruno Birzitis and Derek Lodermeier each added assists on the goal. Less than two minutes later, Chase Matson made it a two-goal game, with Brad Pung and Kristofers Bindulis each earning assists. The Eagles extended the lead to three, as Michael Sabatini scored at the six minute mark. Bindulis and Scott Cuthrell each added assists on the goal.

Brandon Reinholz got the Tomahawks on the board in the second period, deflecting a shot from Shane Cuckovich past Nathan Klebe at 8:04. Dakoda Menslage was credited with the other assist on the power-play goal. Later in the period, Trevor Recktenwald took his own rebound and scored a backhanded power-play goal at 15:35.

The Tomahawk tied the game at 5:53 of the third period, as Matthew Meier scored on a shot from between the circles. Mitch Hall and Casey Linkenheld each added assists on the goal. With just 1:23 remaining in regulation, Mueller scored the game-winner, with Matt Manta getting the assist.

Klebe earned the win, stopping 26 of 29 shots. Brett Young took the loss, stopping 35 of 39 shots. The Tomahawks went 2-for-6 on the power play, while stopping 6-of-7 shots.
