Tomahawks Fend Off Generals

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Tomahawks used a goal midway through the third period to defeat the Northeast Generals 4-2 Saturday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Johnstown recorded the first goal of the game at 12:32 in the first period. The goal was scored by Tommy Horn and assisted by Nick Bruce. For Horn the goal was his fifth of the season.

The Generals answered shortly after with a goal from Artsiom Anosau that was deflected in during a four on four at 8:39 left in the first period.

The Tomahawks started the second period shorthanded for four minutes but was cancelled out by a Northeast penalty two minutes in. The chippy first period led to a scrap early in the second period. Halfway through the second period the Generals took the lead with a goal from Evan Somoza.

Tomahawks forward Filips Buncis scored late in the second period to tie the game at two with a wrist shot that beat Generals goaltender David Fessenden. Buncis’ seventh of the season was assisted by Donovan Ott and Dalton Hunter

Playing tough in the third period, the Tomahawks took the lead with Brandon Young’s goal midway through the third. With seconds left on the clock Johnstown forward Dalton Hunter scored the empty-netter to close out the game.

Drew Hotte picked up his second consecutive victory by stopping 35 of 37 Northeast shots on goal.
