Tomahawks Open Up Alaska Road Trip Against Kenai River

JOHNSTOWN– The Johnstown Tomahawks are in Alaska this weekend for a pair of games against the Kenai River Brown Bears. This will be the first of four meetings between Johnstown (6-4-3) and Kenai River (1-11-0), with the final two coming at the Cambria County War Memorial Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.

           

The Tomahawks are 4-0-1 all-time against the Brown Bears, including a 1-0-1 record at the Soldotna Sports Center. The Tomahawks first victory in team history came over the Brown Bears during the 2012 North American Hockey League Showcase.

 

Forward Casey Linkenheld led the Tomahawks with seven points (five goals, two assists), while Alex Alger tallied two goals and added four assists. Johnstown goaltender Jake Gwillim is 2-0 all-time against Kenai River.

 

Jack Gessert led the Brown Bears with five points (four goals, one assist) against the Tomahawks last season.

 

Faceoff for Friday and Saturday’s games is set for 11:30 p.m. EST, with live video available on www.fasthockey.com.

 

Following this weekend’s games, the Tomahawks will stay in Alaska next week, before closing out their trip with a pair of games against Fairbanks.
