Tomahawks Season Closes With 3-2 OT Loss

MIDDLETOWN, N.J.  The Johnstown Tomahawks fell to the New Jersey Titans 3-2 in overtime in Game 3 of the NAHL East Division Semi-Finals resulting in the Tomahawks’ elimination from the 2017 Playoffs.

The Titans started the game strong with two goals in the first period from Anthony Cusanelli and Todd Goehring to earn a 2-0 lead.

From there the Tomahawks went to work, trying to get back into the game.

It started with a Josh Norman goal at 6:07 of the second period. Roman Kraemer and Daniil Bokun picked up the assists on Norman’s first of the playoffs.

The Tomahawks continued to pepper Titans goaltender Ryan Ferland deep into the third period and their perseverance paid off.

At the 14:19 mark of the third period, Dalton Hunter fired a wrist shot behind Ferland to tie the game at 2-2. Tommy Horn and Brandon Young registered the helpers.

The game went to overtime where the Titans capitalized on a Tomahawks misplay as Jordan Kaplan tapped a shot behind Drew Hotte to seal the series for New Jersey.

Johnstown concludes an historic regular season with a record amount of wins (40) and most points (84).
