JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Tomahawks today announced that the team had tendered defenseman Andrew Quetell, who played his 2015-16 season with the Selects Hockey Academy 18U program.

We are very excited to sign Andrew for next season,” Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia said. “He is a solid two-way defenseman with a very good sense for the game. He is an elite skater that will translate to our level.”

Quetell, a native of Cleveland, has scored five goals and seven assists in 23 games with the Selects Academy who play in the United States Premier Hockey League.

The Selects Academy is consistently one of the top under-18 AAA programs in the United States.

“We foresee him having a bright future with the Tomahawks,” Letizia said.

Quetell becomes the second tender in the Tomahawks system for 2016-17. In January, the team signed Riley Doyon, brother of Tomahawks assistant captain Drew Doyon, to a tendered contract.
