Weekend Preview: Generals Pay Visit To Johnstown

GENERALS (0-20-2) at TOMAHAWKS (15-7-2)

THE JOHNSTOWN TOMAHAWKS

The Tomahawks are back in action at the War Memorial this weekend as they host the Northeast Generals. The will be the first meeting between the two teams since late October where Johnstown captured all four points in a weekend sweep.

Johnstown rebounded from a six-game losing streak last weekend with a home sweep of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The team has welcomed two new faces to the lineup in Logan Stork and Brandon Young.

Stork had an immediate impact on the Tomahawks as he tallied two goals last weekend. Young also provided stability on the back end with his performances defensively.

The top line of Dalton Hunter-Filips Buncis-Donovan Ott bolstered the Tomahawks attack with points in both games including four points (two goals, two assists) from Hunter, three points (two goals, one assist) from Buncis and two points (one goal, one assist) from Ott.

Against the Generals, the Tomahawks have scored 12 goals in two games.

Joseph Kile and Hayden Rowan lead the way in points against the Generals with four a piece. Vinnie Purpura and Drew Hotte each have a victory over Northeast.

This weekend, the Tomahawks partner with All-4-Smiles for the traditional Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to throw onto the ice when Johnstown scores its first goal. Teddy Bear Toss is presented by Kendall, Prebola and Jones, Thomas Chevrolet, Penn Metal Fabricators and the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.

Sunday is Community Foundation Game Day where fans can win great prizes by visit local non-profit organizations in the concourse and learn about the work they do in our community. Community Foundation Game Day is presented by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.

 

THE NORTHEAST GENERALS

The Generals are not off to the start they had hoped for as the they have earned a record of 0-19-2. Last weekend, Northeast dropped a pair of home games to the New Jersey Titans.

Friday, the Generals managed to put six goals on the scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough as the Titans skated to a 8-6 win at the New England Sports Village. Jackson Hartje tallied two goals in the loss. Saturday was another high-scoring affair between Northeast and New Jersey.

The Titans defeated the Generals 8-7 in overtime with Danny Eruzione netting the game winner in the extra frame. Ethan Somoza, Jackson Hartje(2), Colin Bilek(2), Anthony Mangano and Christian Thomas scored for the Generals. Making his first appearance since being traded to Northeast will be former Tomahawks forward Cameron Smith.

The Generals are lead in scoring by Colin Bilek who has six goals and seven assists in 21 games played.

Northeast features former Tomahawks forward Cameron Smith who was dealt to Massachusetts in October.
