Wild 2nd period leads Hawks past Titans

Johnstown, Pa – A wild second period led the Johnstown Tomahawks past the New Jersey Titans with a 4-3 win at 1st Summit Arena Saturday night.

 

The only goal of the first period went to Johnstown. Mitchell Hale was credited with the redirection goal. The assists went to Donovan Ott and Samuel Solensky. The goal came on the power play at 18:43.

 

After one period of play Johnstown led 1-0.

 

In the second period, New Jersey started the scoring. First, the Titans tied the game on the power play with a goal from Tyler Antonucci at 5:08. The assists went to Hunter Alden and Tate Singleton.

 

New Jersey then took the lead at 11:29 with a goal from Hunter Alden. The lone assist went to Tyler Antonucci.

 

The Tomahawks then went on a five-minute power player after New Jersey’s Oliver MacDonald was given a major penalty for checking-from-behind. The Tomahawks made most of this opportunity by scoring the next three goals.

 

First, Samuel Solenksy scored off a rebound. Donovan Ott and Andy Nedeljkovic received the assists on the goal at 13:15 of the second period.

 

Then, Andy Nedejkovic netted his own power play goal at 14:49. Samuel Solensky and Mitchell Hale picked up the helpers giving Johnstown a 3-2 lead.

 

 

 

The Tomahawks weren’t done and extended their lead to two scoring another power play goal less than a minute later. This time, Joe Kile scored with the assists going to Pavel Kharin and Carter Dwyer.

 

The second period would end with the Tomahawks leading 4-2.

 

New Jersey scored early into the third period with a goal from Spencer Stanley which was assisted by Nick Boyagian at 3:52.

 

New Jersey had a couple power play opportunities in the third including a 5-on-3, but the Tomahawks defense, including Britt League in net, stood tall and held the Titans off to give Johnstown the 4-3 win.

 

 

The Tomahawks are right back in action tomorrow afternoon, November 5, 2017, when the puck drops at 3pm at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial. It’s Undies Sunday!
