Year in Review: #12 Donovan Ott

by Rachel Williams

Coming to Johnstown from Lebanon, PA, Donovan Ott had an impressive season with the Tomahawks this past year.

A 2016 second round draft pick by the Tomahawks, Ott came to Johnstown with elevated expectations on a team that had to replace several key players from 2015-16.

Ott impressed right away as he was part of the dominating HBO Line with teammates Dalton Hunter and Filips Buncis.

Ott played 57 games with the Tomahawks during the regular season. Throughout those games, he scored 57 points (32 goals, 25 assists) and racked up 112 penalty minutes.

During the games against the New Jersey Titans on March 24-25, Ott earned six points (three goals, three assists) in two games, which is not an easy task for anyone. These points helped Ott set a new franchise record for most goals in a season with 30.

Along with that, Ott was named the Bauer East Star of the Week after his monumental weekend against the Titans.

Ott was also selected as one of the 2017 NAHL Top Prospects. He played for the NAHL Selects during the tournament where he scored two goals and earned one assist.

A lethal option on the power play, penalty and even strength, Donovan Ott provided an offensive spark to the Tomahawks in 2016-17.
