Four Tomahawks Named to Top Prospects Tournament

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that Roman Kraemer, Andy Nedeljkovic, Toby Sengvongxay and Sam Solensky have been selected to represent the team at the 2018 Top Prospects Tournament in Plymouth, Mich.
The annual tournament, which takes place Feb. 27-28, is one of the most highly scouted events of its kind.
Last season, over 250 scouts attended the event, which featured almost every NHL team and NCAA Division I school.
Kraemer, of Moon Township, Pa., paces the Tomahawks in goals with 13 and has chipped in six helpers in 45 games. He is also tied for the team lead in power play goals (five).
A mid-season acquisition from the USHL’s Omaha Lancers, Nedeljkovic has been a consistent presence on the ice for the Tomahawks.
Through 29 games, the Parma, Ohio native has scored six goals and added 13 assists.
Another early season trade acquisition, Sengvongxay leads all Tomahawks defensemen in goals (two), assists (14) and points (16). He is in his final season of junior eligibility.
Solensky, of Michalovce, Slovakia, leads all Tomahawks skaters in points  with 29 (11 goals, 18 assists). He is also tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with two so far on the season.
The Tomahawks continue their Alaskan road trip with a weekend series with the Kenai River Brown Bears starting Friday, Feb. 16 at 11:30 p.m.
Johnstown returns to 1ST SUMMIT ARENA on Friday, Feb. 23 with Faith and Family Night presented by Laurel Highlands FCA. This night of fellowship coincides with Red Out Night sponsored by HealthCare First Credit Union. Fans are encouraged to wear red to support Heart Health Awareness. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 24 is the traditional Guns & Hoses charity hockey game between police and fire/EMS services benefiting the Special Olympics. The charity game begins at 4:30 p.m. and is immediately followed by the Tomahawks game at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Advanced Office Systems, Firehouse Subs and The Tax Lady.
