Hines Ward to Drop Ceremonial First Puck, Meet Fans during Home Opener

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that Super Bowl MVP and Steeler fan favorite HINES WARD will drop the ceremonial game puck for the Tomahawks home opener at 1st SUMMIT ARENA on Friday, Oct 5. The event is presented by Toyota, GapVax, 1st Summit Bank and UPMC Health Plan. The Tomahawks will play division rivals Jamestown Rebels at 7:30pm.
A native of Seoul, South Korea, Ward, 42, played 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning two Vince Lombardi trophies during that span.
He was selected by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 1998 NFL draft. During his career, he was selected to the Pro Bowl four times, had a streak of four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and was the Super Bowl XL Most Valuable Player.
In total, Ward earned 1,000 receptions for 12,083 receiving yards and scored 85 touchdowns.
Beyond his prolific football career, which ended in 2011, Ward has remained involved in sports as an analyst for NBC Sports and as an analyst for CNN. He was the winner of season 12 of Dancing with the Stars.
