Tomahawks beat Knights in OT 2-1

Jan 27, 2018

Pittston, PA – After winning the opening contest, the Johnstown Tomahawks beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights Saturday night in overtime 2-1 to sweep the weekend series at the Revolution Ice Centre.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton opened the scoring in the first period, with Curtis Carlson scoring on the power play after Joe Kile was penalized for goalie interference.
Shortly after, Johnstown struck back to tie the game. Kile (assisted by Carson Briere) scored his twelfth of the season to even the score at one.
Much like the previous night, neither team could score in the second period. Each had chances on the power play, including a double minor power play for the Knights, but no one could cash in and take the lead.
The teams went into the third period still tied at one.
It was the same situation in the third, with no one being able to break through either goalie. Three periods weren’t enough, so the Tomahawks and Knights went to overtime.
About halfway through the extra period, Briere (assisted by Kile and Karim DelPonte) scored his seventh of the season and gave Johnstown the 2-1 victory.
