Tomahawks Earn Point In 4-3 Shootout Loss

            Trevor Recktenwald scored two goals, and Joe Drabin and Casey Linkenheld each added two assists, but a shootout goal gave the Keystone Ice Miners a 4-3 victory on Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

            Zach Zech got the Johnstown (16-13-3) on the board 5:58 into the first period, taking a pass from Tanner Barnes, before scoring his fourth goal of the season. Cam Bleck also earned an assist on the goal.

            Recktenwald made it 2-0, scoring from the right side at 12:17. Casey Linkenheld and Joe Drabin each added assists on Recktenwald’s seventh point in his last five games.

            Keystone (17-15-3) tied the game early in the second period, as Jon Hall scored 1:08 into the period and Michael Maiden scored at 3:13.

            Recktenwald picked up his second goal of the game, as his shot found its way between the legs of Keystone goaltender Alex Blankenburg with one second remaining in the second period. Linkenheld and Drabin provided the initial passes that led to Recktenwald’s 12th goal of the season.

            The Ice Miners tied the game at three, as Brendan Jaquay scored with the man advantage at 8:11 of the third period. Mike Sabatini earned the assist on the goal.

            After a scoreless overtime period, the Ice Miners took the extra point in the shootout, as Sofo scored in the fifth round. The Tomahawks are now 2-2 on the season in shootouts

            Blankenburg earned the win, stopping 24 of 27 shots in regulation, and all five in the shootout. Ryan Bednard suffered the loss, stopping 30 of 33 shots in regulation and four of five in the shootout.
