Tomahawks Fall to Titans Friday Night

Dec 10, 2021

The Tomahawks fall to the New Jersey Titans Friday night by a final score of 3-1.

The Johnstown Tomahawks organization began the game Friday night by honoring our late office manager, Sherry Cole, who passed away Thursday morning. May she rest in peace. She will be missed by the entire Tomahawks organization.

Sam Evola was solid between the pipes in the 1st period stopping all sixteen shots faced, keeping New Jersey off the scoresheet. Stephen Kyrkostas was awarded a penalty shot at the 15:27 mark in the 1st period, but was denied by New Jersey netminder Andrew Tackas. Four minutes later, Jake Black found the back of the net to light the lamp for the Tomahawks, netting his 18th goal of the season giving the Tomahawks a 1-0 lead going into the intermission.

At the 11:26 mark of the 2nd, New Jersey was awarded a penalty shot of their own for Ryan Coughlin, but Sam Evola made the save to keep the Tomahawks ahead. With 4:29 to go in the 2nd, Brandon Avezov put the Titans on the board, tying the game at 1.

In the 3rd, New Jersey took the lead with Andrew Calafiore scoring 13:35 in to make it 2-1 Titans, followed by an empty net goal for New Jersey again with under a minute to go in regulation, making it a 3-1 final in favor of the Titans.

The two teams face off again tomorrow at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA for the final game of the series and the final home game before New Year’s Eve.
