Hawks WIN 1-0 for Letizia milestone

Mar 7, 2020

ODENTON, MD, — Alex Tracy and Christian Gorscak, along with some gritty play from their teammates, gave the Johnstown Tomahawks a critical victory in their pursuit of the East Division’s top seed. The Hawks 1-0 win on Saturday night provided a rousing argument that low scoring games can be more than a little exciting.

Tracy took his game to another level in his 2nd consecutive start by stopping all 49 shots for his fourth shutout of the season. And Gorscak’s game winning goal halfway through the game puts him on top of the league scoring race with 64 points.

Johnstown improves to 9-1 in their last ten games and remains 3 points behind New Jersey for first place.

COACHING MILESTONE

With the Tomahawks win against the Black Bears at Piney Orchard Arena, Head Coach MIKE LETIZIA earned his 200th career regular season win as an NAHL head coach.

“I’m thrilled for Coach Mike to have reached this incredible milestone in junior hockey,” said Tomahawks President Richard Bouchard. “He joins a pretty small and exclusive club of active coaches in the league with 200 wins. On behalf of myself and the entire Hawks organization, we are honored to share this moment with Mike, his staff and his family and congratulate him on his 200th. We look forward to many more!”

Letizia, 35, now owns a career head coaching record of 200-122-29 in 351 regular season games. The native of Chicago, Illinois, is the first head coach is Johnstown’s 70+ years of Pro/Amateur hockey history to reach the 200-win mark. (Main tenants)
