“When You Read, You Score!” With the Johnstown Tomahawks
The Johnstown Tomahawks are pleased to announce the, “When You Read, You Score!” reading program that we are offering for the 2023/2024 season. We are very excited about this program! Tying together education, community and our team is a huge goal of ours!
The, “When You Read, You Score!” program is an incentive program being offered to students in the surrounding areas by the Johnstown Tomahawks. The program is open to students of all ages and grade levels.
How it works:
- Teachers will register for this season’s programs
- Teachers will then be contacted by a Tomahawks staff member with more information and to set up a classroom visit if desired.
- Teachers will print out a monthly scoresheet to send home with students for the months of October, November and December. Students will have a goal to read 3 books for each month.
- At the end of each month, students will turn these scorecards back into their teacher. Teachers will then submit monthly totals via our online form.
- Students will be rewarded for each goal they achieve at the end of our reading program.
- Goal #1: Ticket to an upcoming Tomahawks game
- Goal #2: Pencil Pack
- Goal #3: Foam Puck
- Students who complete all 3 monthly goals will receive a “Hat Trick” Certificate. These will be available for teachers to print and fill out with names from the welcome pack.
- We ask that each teacher prints out a, “When You Read, You Score!” poster from our welcome packet to display in their classroom.
- We recommend that your classroom schedules a visit for our players to come in and read to or with your students.
- Each teacher that participates in this program will receive 2 complimentary tickets to a regular season game of the 2023/2024 game.
- At the end of the program, we will randomly select 3 classrooms for a special visit from our players as a fun/reward day!
