The Johnstown Tomahawks selected 10 players during the 2024 North American Hockey League Draft on Wednesday, June 12th.
With the 25th pick in the first round of the NAHL draft, the Tomahawks selected Adam Ondris, a left winger from Bratislava, Slovakia. Ondris spent the 2023-2024 season with the KooKoo 20-under team where the ’04 tallied 14 points across 47 games.
Johnstown had previously traded away its second-round (El Paso), third-round (Austin), and fifth-round (Danbury) picks.
With a fourth-round pick acquired earlier from the Janesville Jets, the Tomahawks selected forward Sam Ciappa 126th overall. The New York native tallied 23 goals and 21 assists, totaling 44 points while playing for the Canterbury School in Connecticut.
Just four picks later the Tomahawks were on the board again and picked up Yale University Commit, Kirby Perler as the 130th pick during the fourth round. The defenseman from Woodbridge, CT played the 2023-2024 season with the Long Island Gulls.
Using a fifth-round pick obtained from Colorado, the Tomahawks drafted College of Holy Cross Commit, Ryan Flaherty from Milton, Massachusetts. At Avon Old Farms School, Flaherty the forward amassed nine goals and 13 assists, totaling 22 points during his 2023-2024 campaign.
Caden Olenczak was selected 200th overall by the Tomahawks in the sixth round of the NAHL Draft. The Atlanta, GA native, a left-handed defenseman, spent the previous season with the New Jersey Rockets, where he recorded four goals, 16 assists, and 20 points.
With the 235th pick in the seventh round, the Johnstown Tomahawks selected forward Jackson Crowder, who is committed to The Ohio State University. The Allen, Texas native tallied 41 goals, 49 assists, and 90 points for the Dallas Stars Elite 16-Under team.
