The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Elmira Aviators by a final score of 4-1, winning their fourth consecutive game.
The Johnstown Tomahawks aimed to extend their hot streak as they entered the first period. Glendale, California native Nick Avakyan made his Tomahawks debut between the pipes. The Tomahawks struck first, with Tate Pecknold netting his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Captain Dylan Shane and Ryan Flaherty. By the end of the opening period, the Tomahawks led 1-0 against the Elmira Aviators, with Avakyan delivering a flawless performance, stopping all 13 shots he faced.
Penalties dominated the second period, with the Johnstown Tomahawks and Elmira Aviators each earning three power-play opportunities. The Aviators took advantage of one, evening the score at 1-1. Despite several chances, the Tomahawks couldn’t find the back of the net, sending both teams to the locker room tied.
Taking control in the third period, the Tomahawks wasted no time as Tate Pecknold scored his second goal of the night just 28 seconds in, assisted by Ryan Flaherty and Caden Olenczak, to regain the lead at 2-1. Just over two minutes later, Dallas Potter extended the advantage to 3-1 with assists from Owen Mahar and Charlie Zetterkvist. Nick White capped off the night with a goal, assisted by Caden Olenczak and Nick Jarmain. Johnstown secured a 4-1 victory over the Aviators, backed by an impressive performance from goaltender Nick Avakyan, who stopped 35 of 36 shots in the win.
