The Johnstown Tomahawks will continue their early season road-trip this weekend for games on Friday, September 19th, and Saturday, September 20th in Canton, MA against the Northeast Generals. Puck drop for both games will be at 7:00PM and can be streamed on NATV.
A LOOK BACK AT LAST SEASON
Last season these East Division foes squared off six times and the Tomahawks comfortably captured the season series, winning four of the six games (4-2).
The first of the six season matchups with Northeast took place on the 1st and 2nd of November and like our matchups against Danbury last season, the teams went on to see each other four times over the next two weekends for four straight contests.
November 1 | Canton Ice House
The Tomahawks started the series off right capturing the 4-3 victory on the road.
November 2nd | Canton Ice House
The Tomahawks began November in a great fashion as they swept the Generals in the first series, winning game two 4-1.
November 8th | 1st SUMMIT ARENA
Six days later, the two teams faced off once again and Northeast returned the favor from the last game, capturing a 4-1 victory of their own.
November 9th | 1st SUMMIT ARENA
Johnstown grabs the three games to one series lead after beating the Generals in a 5-4 nailbiter on home ice.
December 30th | 1st Summit Arena
The two teams wouldn’t face off again until one of the most popular weekends on the Tomahawks home schedule for the New Years Eve celebration. The Tomahawks grabbed the 5-3 victory here on New Years Eve-Eve, pushing the season series to a commanding four games to one lead.
December 31st | 1st Summit Arena
Northeast went on to finish the season series strongly, capturing a 5-4 victory on the road in Johnstown during one of the busiest nights of the season, taking the wind out of the 3,000+ in attendance. The final season series was four games to two, in favor of Johnstown.
2025-2026 KEYS TO THE MATCHUP
- Tomahawks first year Head Coach Adam Houli begins his tenure with new team captain Nick Jarmain as they look to bring the first Robertson Cup to Johnstown.
- Northeast is managed and head coached by Bryan Erikson. Erikson has been involved within the Generals organization for the last 10 years. The Generals will be looking ahead to improve upon a forgetful 2024-25 season, finishing with a record of 19-33-4, for last place in the East Division.
- The Tomahawks will enter the season with just six returning players
- G – Zack Ferris
- D – Kalib Capecci
- D – Sean Morgan
- F – Jack Genovese
- F – Nick Jarmain
- F – Evan Kensey
In the opening weekend in Danbury, forward Jack Genovese led the way with four-points in two games to share the division lead in points after the first week. Tomahawks captain, Nick Jarmain also made an impact as he was able to score twice and use his physicality to get involved every time he touched the ice. Returning goaltender Zack Ferris started the first of the two contests, grabbing the 4-1 victory where he turned aside 24 of 26 shots on goal.
