ACQUISITION UPDATES

Feb 10, 2021

The Tomahawks have a few changes that have been made to their roster with three new faces coming into Johnstown.

William Persson: For the past two seasons, Björklinge, Sweden native William Persson played in the J20 SuperElit league, earning 21 goals and 18 assists in 43 games played. To start the 2020-21 season, Persson played for the J20 Nationell, where he had four goals and six assists in 16 games with the program this season before heading to Johnstown. The 19-year-old forward has been acquired by the Tomahawks as his season in Sweden has come to an end.

Josh Graziano: Buffalo, New York native Josh Graziano is the newest netminder to join the Tomahawks roster this season after being acquired from the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Last season with the Ice Wolves, Graziano had a 3.54 goals against average and .906 save percentage across his 20 games played. Beginning this season, the 6’3” goaltender saw much improved numbers, starting off with a 2.37 GAA and a .930 save percentage in five games with the Ice Wolves this season. Graziano also has some national experience on his resume, playing with both the U17 and U18 United States National Team Development Program squads before finding a home in New Mexico. The netminder is committed to Union College where he had played the second half of last season, but had the opportunity to return to junior hockey upon the cancelation of his college season this year.

Spencer Evans: The Tomahawks have added yet another New Yorker to their roster with the acquisition of defenseman Spencer Evans. The 6’2” Oyster Bay native joins the Hawks roster after being acquired from the Minnesota Wilderness, where he only appeared in two games. Prior, Evans was with East Division foe, the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks where he had five points in seven games with the organization to start the season. The 18-year-old played last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights organization (which has since relocated to Danbury) and had two goals and four assists in 44 games with the Knights. Evans will be joining Tomahawks forward Brendan Clark next year also, as they are both committed to continue their careers at Brown University beginning in the 2021-22 season.

Goaltender Atticus Kelly and Forward Milan Cermak have been released from the Tomahawks.

Goaltender Peyton Grainer has been reassigned to the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League.

Defenseman Billy Simms will be out for the remainder of the season after suffering a leg fracture in only the second game of the season.
