Activities announced for "Red-Out Weekend" presented by HealthCare First Credit Union

Feb 4, 2015

Johnstown, PA – The Johnstown Tomahawks have announced a variety of promotions and activities for their upcoming HealthCare First Credit Union “Red-Out Weekend,” held Feb. 13-14.

All fans are asked to wear red to both games in support of HealthCare First Credit Union’s efforts to support the American Heart Association and raise awareness about heart disease.

HealthCare First Credit Union representatives will be on-hand throughout the Feb. 13 game to raise money for the American Heart Association. On Feb. 14, volunteers from the American Heart Association will also be conducting fundraising activities.

Tomahawks players will be wearing specialty jerseys during both games against the Soo Eagles, and fans can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the game-worn jerseys following the Valentine’s Day game.

Following the Feb. 14 game, the team invites all fans to Jake’s Pub and Grill in the Johnstown Galleria for a special “Date with the Tomahawks” meet-and-greet with the entire team.  The event is an opportunity for fans to meet the players, including new acquisitions Alex Alger and Lane Valimont, acquired in a trade last weekend.

Jake’s Pub and Grill is also sponsoring a giveaway Saturday night, with team glasses given to adults and plastic cups given to kids.  The giveaway is for the first 1,000 fans in the building.

Also on Feb. 14, the Tomahawks invite players from all area youth hockey and high school hockey programs to take part in a first-of-its-kind group photo on the ice during the first intermission.  The photo will capture the spirit of the Johnstown hockey community to be used in conjunction with the Tomahawks’ effort to help Johnstown become the winner of the 2015 Kraft Hockeyville competition.

Kraft Hockeyville is a national contest sponsored by Kraft Foods, the NHL, and the NHLPA to find America’s most passionate hockey community.  The winning community will receive $150,000 in rink upgrades and will receive the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game.

The Tomahawks will also begin a Kraft food drive beginning with the Feb. 13 game.  All fans are asked to bring boxes of Kraft macaroni and cheese or other non-perishable Kraft products to use as noisemakers during the games.  Afterwards, the items will be donated to local food pantries to assist needy local families.

“Red-Out Weekend” Presented by HealthCare First Credit Union begins Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. and concludes Saturday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.  Individual tickets starting at $9 for adults or $6 for kids under 12 are available at   For additional information, call the team office at 814-536-4625.
