JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce the commitment of defenseman Adam Kolcon to the Air Force Academy. The 19 year old announced his commitment to the NCAA  Division 1 program from the Atlantic Hockey Conference two days prior to reporting to Johnstown for training camp.

The 6’1/185 lb native of Rochester, NY, has collected 1 assist and is +1 on the young Tomahawks season. Last season, Kolcon compiled 7 goals and 17 assists for a combined 24 points split between the Camrose Kodiaks and Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. The Tomahawks signed Kolcon to a tender agreement prior to the 2019-2020 season.

“We are very happy for Adam and his commitment to Air Force,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “We brought him in here knowing that he had the ability to be a strong offensive defenseman for us who could replace a lot of the puck movers we moved on from the back end, and also help our power play. So far on the early season, he has been able to deliver.”

The Air Force hockey program has won the Atlantic Conference Tournament seven times from 2007 to 2018. In 2018, Air Force – led by Head Coach Frank Serratore – upset #1 seeded St. Cloud State University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Air Force fell in the second round to eventual National Champion Minnesota-Duluth.

“Coach Serratore’s career and reputation speaks for itself” Letizia said. “He has been an incredibly successful coach who gets the most out of his players, and we are excited for Adam and his family for the opportunity to play for coach Serratore, and also represent our country in the United States Air Force.”

Adam Kolcon and the rest of the Johnstown Tomahawks are in action this weekend, September 27th and 28th, at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA! Be sure to get your tickets now at www.1stSummitArena.com/go/Tomahawks or in-person at the Arena Box Office.
