After Record-Setting Weekend, Ott Earns League Recognition

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks and the North American Hockey League announced today that forward Donovan Ott was named the Bauer East Division Star of the Week for the week ending March 26, 2017.

Ott earned six points (three goals, three assists) during a weekend sweep of the New Jersey Titans March 24-25 at the Cambria County War Memorial.

The Lebanon, Pa., native scored two goals in a 6-4 victory over the Titans March 24 at the War Memorial. Ott also picked up an assist in the win.

The following game, Ott set the new Tomahawks single-season goal record with a goal in Saturday’s 5-4 win over New Jersey. He added two assists as well.

“It was a huge weekend for us, given the time of the year and the magnitude of the games for standings and Donovan was instrumental in our two-game sweep,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “Getting six points in two games is not an easy task for anybody but doing in when the games the mean the most is always special and he has had an knack for stepping up in the big games all season long. Additionally, he set a new franchise record for goals in a season with 30. Donovan has been outstanding for us all year long and I am very hopeful that he will get the Division I opportunity that I feel he deserves.”

The Tomahawks return to the War Memorial Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m., for the final homestand of the season as they host the Aston Rebels. Friday ‘s promotion is the fifth annual Pucks & Paws where fans can bring their friendly four-legged friends to the game for a $5 dog ticket. The night is presented by the Cambria County Humane Society. Saturday, April 8, the Hawks close the 2016-17 regular season with Fan Appreciation Night presented by UPMC Health Plan.
