JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce that forward Shane Bednard has committed to play hockey at Bowling Green State University. The Macomb, Mich. native leads the team with 35 points (16G-19A) in 45 games this season. Bednard was named the North Division Star of the Week earlier this season, and has been an honorable mention for the NAHL Forward of the Month award.

“Shane exemplifies everything we could ask for in a player that is part of the Tomahawks organization. His work ethic and commitment on and off the ice is second to none, and he has outstanding character. He has earned every single thing he has gotten to get to this point and I could not be more proud of Shane for this fantastic achievement and everything he has done for us this season. He is a great young man who should be a role model for plenty of young hockey players. His future is so bright and I think the best is still yet to come for him,” said Tomahawks assistant coach Mike Letizia.

Bednard is the third Tomahawks player to commit this season, joining Matthew Meier and Alex Jaeckle, who both committed to play for the United States Air Force Academy. The Tomahawks have five alumni playing NCAA hockey this season, with two more committed to play college hockey.

The Tomahawks welcome the Michigan Warriors to the War Memorial Feb. 14 and 15 for youth hockey weekend. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday night and 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
