JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks are pleased to announce that goaltender Carter McPhail has committed to Division I Ferris State University Wednesday afternoon.
McPhail, of Fenton, Mich., has backstopped the Tomahawks to the league’s best record of 41-6-2 and is on the cusp of becoming the team’s all-time wins leader. His 24 victories place him in a tie with Tomahawks alumnus Drew Hotte.
Additionally, McPhail has earned spectacular numbers in 2018-19. He ranks sixth among goaltenders with a 2.11 goals against average and fourth in save percentage with .931.
“Its another great day for the Tomahawks with Carter making his division 1 commitment to Ferris State,” head coach Mike Letizia said. “He has come in this year and really established himself. He has contributed greatly on the ice as one of the league’s top goaltenders and as a leader off the ice with his positive attitude. I am extremely proud of him for earning and deserving this fantastic opportunity at the next level. His competitiveness, desire to win, and great personality should be an awesome fit for the Bulldogs. Coach Nick and myself are very happy for Carter and his family.”
Located in Big Rapids, Mich., Ferris State competes in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
