Jan 18, 2016

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown Tomahawks announced today that defenseman Niko Coffman has been named the East Division Star of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2016. Coffman had two goals and one assist during a weekend sweep of Aston and New Jersey.

Coffman netted the first goal of the game during Friday’s 5-2 victory at Aston over the Rebels. He added another goal during Saturday’s game against the Titans while assisting on Casey Linkenheld’s power play goal during the second period of a 6-4 victory at New Jersey.

“This was a very successful weekend for us against the two teams just ahead of us in the division,” Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia said. “Niko was instrumental in both victories both defensively and chipping in offensively with two goals and an assist over the weekend. I was happy with our team game over the weekend and Niko was right in the middle of it with his two-way game.”

Coffman has appeared in 28 games for the Tomahawks, registering five goals and eight assists.

He joins teammates Drew Doyon (week of 12/7/15), Lynch (week of 11/30/15), Adam Pilewicz (week of 10/12/15), Anthony Parrucci (week of 9/21/15) and Andrew Romano (week of 1/3/16)  as members of the Tomahawks who have been named the East Division Star of the Week this season.

Johnstown returns to the Cambria County War Memorial Friday Jan. 22 for the start of a weekend series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Friday night is Kids Night and features an appearance by the world-famous ZOOperstars. Saturday, Jan. 23 is the fourth annual Guns n’ Hoses night where police and firefighters face-off for a charity game before the Tomahawks take the ice.
