FERRIS SHUTS OUT MAINE IN THE SWEEP

The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Maine Nordiques by a final score of, 2-0.

The first-period scoring commenced with Tomahawks Captain Zach Aben finding the net just one minute into the game, with assistance from Will Lawrence and Nick White. This early goal granted the Tomahawks a 1-goal lead. Despite both teams exchanging plays throughout the period, the score remained 1-0, favoring the Johnstown Tomahawks as the first period concluded.

An eventful second period kicked off with a Tomahawks goal from Cade Baker assisted by Dylan Shane and Justin Rapp to extend the Tomahawks lead, 2-0. With 4:59 remaining in the period the teams went to the locker room early due to an ice maintenance issue. After the extended intermission, both teams returned to the ice to finish out the period. Due to the maintenance ice issues, the intermission turned into over an hour. However, after resumed play the score would still stand, 2-0 in favor of the Johnstown Tomahawks.

The Tomahawks would go on to sweep the Maine Nordiques after a scoreless third period. Goaltender Zack Ferris stopped all 22 shots against in the shutout with a dominate preformance.

The Johnstown Tomahawks will return home next weekend to face the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks Friday night at 7:30 PM and Saturday at 7:00 PM for a Johnstown Hockey Heritage weekend celebration featuring Bob Costas.
