Tomahawks Hockey Partners LLC. is pleased to announce the hiring of Alec Freyberger as the Assistant Coach of the Johnstown Tomahawks.
“We are excited and honored to welcome Alec Freyberger as the new Assistant Coach to Johnstown,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Head Coach and General Manager Jared Kersner. “Alec played 4 seasons for me as a player before coaching with me for 2 seasons at the Skipjacks Hockey Academy. Frey’s expertise, dedication, and daily drive to improve himself as a coach will undoubtedly inspire the Tomahawks in our pursuit of excellence.”
Alec began his coaching career after an impressive four-year stint with the Skipjacks Hockey Club. A native of Virginia, Freyberger anticipated returning to York, where he has spent the past three years as an associate head coach. He leveraged his extensive experience as an elite hockey player during this time. While with the Skipjacks, Alec observed the organization’s significant impact, helping many players achieve notable milestones in their hockey careers, including placements in NCAA Division I and III programs, as well as the USHL and NAHL.
Freyberger’s coaching philosophy centers on building self-confidence through structured repetition and fostering daily habits and routines. Alec’s approach goes beyond the rink, focusing on the comprehensive development of individuals as athletes, students, and people. His commitment to excellence is evident in his dedication to helping players thrive both on and off the ice, ensuring they develop into well-rounded individuals prepared for success in all areas of life.

The Johnstown Tomahawks will return to the ice for Main Camp held at North Central Recreation Center Ice Skating Rink from July 21st to July 24th. Main Camp will be open to the public, more information on times will be posted on the Tomahawk’s social media channels at a later date. Players interested in attending Main Camp should send an email to Head Coach / General Manager Jared Kersner, jkersner@johnstowntomahawks.com.
