From the Intern’s Desk: An Introduction

May 26, 2017

The Tomahawks are extremely lucky. We not only have amazing and dedicated fan support along with passionate coaches, front office staff members, and players, but a tremendous wealth of young and talented interns who are an integral part of our organization. While they work hard bringing their skills to all different areas of the team – from ticketing and business to marketing and public relations – each and every one has what we consider a must-have: an unbeatable knowledge and passion for hockey.

With that said, we wanted to give voice to our talented Communications intern, Rachel Williams. She will be writing Tomahawks feature stories throughout the summer and other content along the way!

An Introduction

by Rachel Williams

Hello! My name is Rachel Williams and I am interning for the Tomahawks this summer! I’m currently attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania and will be graduating in August with a degree in Communications Media. Throughout the summer, I will be writing some stories for the Tomahawks website, so I wanted to tell you a little more about myself.

I lived in Belpre, Ohio, until I moved to the Johnstown area with my mom and brother in 2008. I went to Shade High School and then moved on to Penn Highlands for 2 years before transferring to IUP.

Although I am from Ohio, I am definitely a Penguins fan when it comes to hockey. Hockey is a newer interest of mine, one that really only started once I moved to this area. In Belpre, it wasn’t really something that people cared about. However, it is a huge part of the community in Johnstown, which made it easier for someone who knew little about it to get into the sport.

On top of interning with the Tomahawks, I work part time at Hallmark. I like to spend what free time I have going to concerts and watching movies. I’m obsessed with Star Wars and everything Disney.

I’m really looking forward to spending the next few months working with the Tomahawks and can’t wait to learn everything I can during my time here.
