Last Night
Last night, the Soo Eagles took the opening game of the weekend series 3-0. Bruno Biritis opened the scoring 1:37 into the first period, before Nick Belger scored goals at 4:38 of the second period and 18:11 of the third period. Landon Trutt earned the shutout win, stopping all 28 shots he faced. Alex Okicki took the loss, stopping 30 of 33 shots. Both the Tomahawks and Eagles went 0-for-5 on the power play.
The Tomahawks and Eagles close out their weekend series tomorrow at 3 p.m. The teams will meet again in Johnstown March 21-23.
Division Recap
In the other division games last night, Port Huron defeated Janesville 6-3, while Springfield picked up a 2-1 road victory over Michigan. The Fighting Falcons now lead the Tomahawks by five points in the north division, while the Tomahawks continue to hold a four point lead over third place Michigan. With their win last night, Soo moves into fifth place in the division, 13 points behind Port Huron and eight points behind Johnstown.
