Game Preview: Johnstown vs. New Jersey

After taking games one and two of their first round Robertson Cup playoff series, the Johnstown Tomahawks return home to take on the New Jersey Titans. The Tomahawks are looking to clinch their first playoff series win in team history inside the friendly confines of the Cambria County War Memorial.

In the first game of the series, Niko Coffman gave the Tomahawks an early 1-0 lead, scoring 6:46 into the first period. After the Titans tied the game in the first period, Casey Linkenheld responded with a goal 5:03 into the second period. Andrew Romano extended the lead with a power-play goal at 11:43, before Linkenheld tallied his second of the night with 1:52 left in the second period.

The Titans pulled back within one, thanks to third period goals from Raymond Brice at 3:14 and Andrew Durham at 9:04. Linkenheld set the final score and finished off a hat trick with a goal at 12:16.

Andrew Lindgren stopped 19 of 22 shots in the victory, while Jack Berry allowed five goals on 23 shots in the loss.

The Tomahawks secured a 2-0 series advantage with a shutout victory last Friday night. After going scoreless for the first 40 minutes, Zak Galambos got the Tomahawks on the board 25 seconds into the third period.

Luke Lynch set the final score with an empty-net goal at 18:54. Lindgren earned the shutout victory, stopping all 21 shots he faced. Berry stopped 24 of 25 shots in the loss.

The Titans held the advantage in the season series, taking 10 of the 16 meetings in the regular season. Andrew Romano led the Tomahawks with 13 points (three goals, ten assists) against New Jersey. Bruno Birzitis led the Titans with 18 points (eight goals, ten assists) against Johnstown.
