Mar 17, 2018

Johnstown, Pa – The Johnstown Tomahawks fell in the middle game of the weekend versus the Northeast Generals, 4-2 on Saturday night at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial.

The first period played out just as it did last night between the two teams. First, Northeast scored only to have the Tomahawks tie up the game.

Northeast’s goal came at 3:20 of the first period and was scored by Mike Egan, his nineteenth of the season. Colin McCabe and Brady Gaudette picked up the assists.

Johnstown’s goal came at 14:37 from Andrew Andary, his fourth of the year. The lone assist went to Karim Del Ponte.

Teams went into the intermission with the game tied, 1-1.

In the second period, only one goal was scored and it was in favor of the Generals. At 9:02 Justin Jallen scored his twenty-second of the season. The helper went to Ryan Rowland.

After two periods of play Northeast led, 2-1.

In the third period, Johnstown tied the game on a Carson Briere goal. The assists went to Andrew Quetell and David Schmidling at 7:47.

Northeast retook the lead at 10:43 off a shot from Matt Demelis. The assists went to Brian Chambers and Justin Jallen.

Later, the Tomahawks were awarded a penalty shot after a General player covered the puck inside the goalie crease. Joe Kile attempted the shot, but the puck hit the post and then went wide.

Generals continued to have the 3-2 lead late in the third period.

With the netminder for Johnstown pulled, the Tomahawks tried to tie the game, but the Generals would scored the empty-net goal to give them a two-goal lead.

This was enough to defeat the Tomahawks, 4-2.
